Plot: When a space shuttle crash lands - it's Spidey to the rescue. But the Kingpin's henchman, The Rhino, has already stolen a meteor that could provide for a new nuclear fuel. When the aircraft tumbles off the bridge, Spider-Man emerges from the water with a dark stain covering his costume. Soon, the stain turns into a black version of his costume, which enhances his powers and changes his personality. Meanwhile, Eddie Brock has blamed Spider-Man for the meteor's theft and J. Jonah Jameson has announced a million dollar reward for the wall-crawler. With Bounty Hunters on every corner, Spider-Man goes after the man responsible for the incriminating story, only to discover that the new suit is alive! And Peter is the host organism! Spider-Man is able to recover the Promethium-X and rid himself of the alien symbiote, but as luck would have it Eddie Brock accidentally becomes its next partner. The new creature, Venom, is stronger than Spider-Man and can't be detected by spider sense. Venom intrudes on Peter Parker's life, and threatens to expose his secret identity.
